Technical assumptions in agricultural investment feasibility

The weak point of a feasibility study is rarely the financial model. It is the technical assumptions the model rests on.

AGIMEX Engineering TeamPublished:

Water is the first limit on an investment

The scale of an investment is usually bounded not by land but by the water that can be used reliably and lawfully. Allocation status, the seasonal behaviour of the source and regional competition should be clear before equipment is selected. When this limit appears late, it does not resize the investment — it changes its return.

Scope boundaries are written down

Project development, engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning may sit with different parties. If a feasibility study does not state who carries which item, work that was invisible in the budget appears during implementation. The same boundary also determines to whom results can fairly be attributed.

Assumptions must be recorded and testable

Inputs such as yield, price, operating hours and loss rates are listed with their sources. The study then shows what happens to the outcome when each moves within a reasonable range. A feasibility built on a single scenario does not tell the decision-maker where the risk sits.

The decision calendar must match the technical one

Planting windows, contracting processes and procurement lead times are linked. An investment decision taken before technical preparation is complete tends to turn into reduced scope or delay. The output of a feasibility study is therefore not a single number but an ordering of which information is needed when.

Turnkey Agricultural Projects

For investors and agricultural operations, AGIMEX undertakes turnkey and integrated agricultural projects — turnkey greenhouse, orchard, irrigation and field irrigation projects — combining project development and engineering, procurement and supply, systems integration, installation, automation, testing and commissioning within one agreed scope. “Turnkey” describes that integrated delivery scope, not a fixed EPC or lump-sum contract model; responsibilities are defined in each contract.

Irrigation Engineering & Water Management

Irrigation design and engineering for commercial farms, orchards and greenhouses, and turnkey irrigation and field irrigation projects: AGIMEX carries crop-led hydraulic design and system specification and, within the agreed scope, procurement and supply, fertigation, automation, installation, testing and commissioning. AGIMEX does not manufacture irrigation equipment.

Greenhouse Projects

Greenhouse project design and engineering, and turnkey greenhouse projects, for growers and investors: AGIMEX connects crop strategy, structure, water, nutrients, climate and control in one design and, within the agreed scope, carries systems integration, procurement and supply, irrigation, fertigation, automation, installation, testing and commissioning. AGIMEX does not manufacture greenhouse structures; they come from qualified manufacturers.

Data-Driven Agriculture

For farms, greenhouses and agricultural investments with installed or planned infrastructure: AGIMEX defines the measurement architecture and monitoring requirements, reads operating data against the engineering design, and sets up decision support and performance evaluation. This is engineering and agronomic decision support, not a software product.
